Click here for a fabulous tutorial on rope-climbing. Most specifically, it discusses and demonstrates EACH method, which I found useful. My preferred and most confident method is a variation of the gym method, but it is still the most ineffective and most grip/upper-body taxing of the methods. In my quest for efficiency in functional movements, my goal is to master the Navy Seals “brake and squat” method.
Cheers to all who grow to love the rope; I have no doubt it will happen after a few ascents!

My husband promises to hang a rope for me outside in a tree. Just trying to make CF work here at home.
Has anyone tried wall climbs.. they are SUPER hard. I challenge anyone to do 10! See how you feel after that.
Wall climbs are intense. I did a Wod last year with them in it. I believe it was a 2010 CF Games Wod, but it almost destroyed me 🙂 I find it fascinating how a movement that, at face value, may look only slightly difficult, yet is super hard to do multiple reps of in reality.
I will take you up on your challenge though! (even though I already know half way through I will wish I hadn’t.)
Oh and congrats on the rope!
Awesome.. I got through 3 and about died. They really do look easy, but the realitiy is that they work on muscles you never knew you had. I’m trying to make it a goal to get through 10 without huffing and puffing, maybe by the end of the year.
Oh yes Laskey,
I hope you and the rest of your ToughMudder team mates have a good time.
