I really like the idea of fixed times every week that we could get together. I couldn’t do Monday nights at 6 because we have club at 6.30, but I could do Wednesdays and Sundays. T-shirts would be awesome! Since we have a Level 1 certified trainer, could we actually be considered a box? Not that it really matters; I’m just curious. Altius could also be a good place to start strategizing for the Tough Mudder in April. It would be great if we could get the people who are going together and do some group type training or something. Just an idea.
I really hope we can get this to build into more of a community!
Okay–so at this point we have two for 9:30 Sunday morning. Let’s give it a shot this Sunday.
My idea was Monday and Wednesday morning, not evening.
But I could be flexible if it would generate more interest.
Yes, we must do some group training for Tough Mudder.
My tentative plan was this:
Starting in January, we’ll add some programming to altius specific to the Tough Mudder, especially more running, including some longer runs.
In addition, the Tough Mudder website has a "Tough Mudder Workout" (http://toughmudder.com/training-prep/)
I thought we could schedule some evenings to all do this together, starting in January. They suggest that you "Build your endurance to the point where one week before Tough Mudder you can comfortably do the circuit twice." So I thought we could try to do that once, maybe in February, and see if we needed to tweak our programming to be more ready, and then maybe again a week or so before the event.
Just FYI: Evenings work best for my family, as far as a ToughMudder team WOD goes. We’re usually at the gym by 5:45 or 6:00.
Tuesdays and Thursdays are going to be a challenge, though. The boys begin wrestling, so one or both of us will be with them those evenings.
Evening would work "best" for me as well(except Mondays when we have Armstrong Club. I would be up for a few mornings though too. It would be nice if we had enough people coming to give it a class atmosphere. Sundays some of the students have WATs so we would have to do the challenge wods alone.
I really like the "graph idea". It would be cool to have a graph that showed what types of workouts we are doing. For example I am really focusing on building endurance this fall so a bit more running and sometimes CFE wods. Like Spealer said in a CFJ video once, its one thing to "target a weakness", and another to "train with a bias"(http://journal.crossfit.com/2011/06/cpctragetedvsbias.tpl). Its a fine line and I think the graph would really help make it visual in that way.
@Speal: Do you want to keep the 9:30 Sunday a.m. going? Eric Orleans said he would be keen to join us, starting this Sunday. I really like that time so if you’re game there would be three of us.
@LH: What would you think of getting together Monday mornings at 6:00 to do whatever’s up for WOD2 plus a couple other bits?
Also–that link to the Spealler bit you referenced didn’t work. What was his point there?
You’d have to show me what you mean with the "graph idea." I honestly don’t know if we could add that kind of functionality to the website … that would be in Ray Kaleho’s department.
I like the idea of a 9:30 a.m. Sunday morning WOD… I will give it a go and try to be there Sunday morning if I can get a jump-start on the Hercus/Jacques wedding food before-hand.
Otherwise, I’ll shoot for NEXT Sunday. 🙂
